
King Hits 1,000 Points as WBB Defeats Montana State, 100-52

Marquette resumes Preseason WNIT action on Sunday
MILWAUKEE – Senior Danielle King became the fifth Marquette University women's basketball player to reach the 1,000-point plateau as the 19th-ranked Golden Eagles came away with a 100-52 win over Montana State in the Preseason WNIT on Friday night.
King scored a three-pointer from the top of the key late in the fourth quarter, making Marquette the only team in NCAA Division I women's basketball with five 1,000-point scorers. She joins fellow seniors Allazia Blockton, Erika Davenport, Natisha Hiedeman and Amani Wilborn.
The Golden Eagles (2-0) were led by Blockton with 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting while Wilborn made all seven of her field goal attempts to finish with 17 points, along with six rebounds and five assists.
Hiedeman added in 14 points and seven assists as six Golden Eagles notched double-digit scoring.
Marquette led by as many as 50 points and held the Bobcats (1-1) to just nine points in the first frame. Blockton scored 17 of her 23 in the first half, including 3-of-4 from distance. Hiedeman posted six of her assists in the first 20 minutes and the team combined for 24 on the night.
Montana State was led by junior Oliana Squires with 14 points.
The Golden Eagles resume action in the Preseason WNIT against either Northern Iowa or Delaware on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
