
Luka Prpa Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America® Honors a Second Time

Prpa is the program's seventh Academic All-America® selection and third two-time recipient
AUSTIN, Texas – For the second-straight year, junior midfielder Luka Prpa has been voted a Google Cloud Academic All-American® as he was voted to the second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced on Thursday.
Prpa, who earned Third Team Academic All-America® honors in 2017, is the seventh Academic All-America® selection in program history, including the third two-time winner, and first since Charlie Lyon ('14) won his second-consecutive honor in 2014.
The Wind Lake, Wisconsin, native boasts a 3.94 GPA as a biomedical sciences major at Marquette.
Prpa recently collected All-BIG EAST honors for the third-straight season as he was named to the first team for the first time in his career, accompanying a second team selection in 2017 and being named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in 2016.
As a co-captain in 2018, he led the Golden Eagles with 18 points on six goals and six assists and guided the team to its first BIG EAST tournament championship game appearance since 2014.
In his career, he's accumulated 51 points (17 goals, 17 assists) in 51 career games (all starts).
To be eligible for Academic All-American® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic status at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Prpa was one of two players from the BIG EAST Conference selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® teams, joining senior Sven Koenig of Creighton, who was voted to the first team.
