
18/15 Marquette Falls at No. 6/6 Mississippi State in Close 87-82 Battle

Danielle King records a season-high 27 points
STARKVILLE, Miss.— It was a back-and-forth contest as the No. 18/15 Marquette women's basketball team stormed into Starkville and gave No. 6/6 Mississippi State a fight it had not seen this season. The lead changed 25 times and was tied eight as the Golden Eagles fell, 87-82 at Humphrey Coliseum on Thursday night.
Danielle King led Marquette (6-2) with a season-best 27 points as Natisha Hiedeman (18), Allazia Blockton (17) and Amani Wilborn (10) also scored in double digits. Wilborn tallied her second career double-double grabbing 10 boards.
The Golden Eagles connected on 54.1 percent (33-61) from the floor and connected on eight shots from beyond-the-arc, while holding the Bulldogs (9-0) to 49.3 percent shooting.
Anriel Howard tallied a game-high 29 points and grabbed 12 boards, while Teaira McCowan posted 24 points and took down 18 rebounds.
Marquette will travel to Northwestern on Sunday, Dec. 9 with tip-off set for 1 p.m. CT from Welsh-Ryan Arena, airing on the Big Ten Network. The Wildcats are receiving votes in both women's basketball polls, most recently falling to BIG EAST foe DePaul on Wednesday night.
