AHPRC ground-breaking is March 6
Marquette University will officially break ground on its new Athletic and Human Performance Research Center (AHPRC) on Tuesday, March 6. The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m, and will be held at the project site on the southwest corner of West Wells and 12th street, across from the Al McGuire Center.

Golf begins spring season in Puerto Rico
After a fall season that vaulted Marquette's men's golf program into the national rankings for the first time in program history, the Golden Eagles head into the spring looking to defend their BIG EAST title and make a return trip to the NCAA Championship. That journey begins Sunday at the Puerto Rico Classic.

WSOC announces 2018 spring schedule
The women's soccer team announced its spring season schedule that's highlighted by a match against NWSL's Chicago Red Stars at Valley Fields on Feb. 24. The Golden Eagles are slated to play four total matches and their annual Tournament of Friends competition. Three of the matches will be hosted in the seasonal dome at Valley Fields, while the fourth and final match will be in Madison against Wisconsin.

Sprecher heads to Florida for training with U.S. U19 National Team
Rising freshman forward Kylie Sprecher of the women's soccer team took part in training with the United States U19 Women's National Team in Florida over the past week. The Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin native also participated in camp with the U20 squad during November.

MLAX opens regular season at Valley Fields
Joe Amplo and the Golden Eagles will host Jacksonville at Valley Fields on Saturday, Feb. 17 at noon. Marquette has been preparing for their first game through scrimmages against Cleveland State, Wittenberg, Johns Hopkins and Penn. The Golden Eagles have four returning starters, including All-BIG EAST Preseason Team selections Cole Blazer and Nick Grill. Senior face-off specialist Zachary Melillo was also given preseason accolades.

WBB hosts Friday matinee and Sunday 'Senior Day'
Marquette's women's basketball team begins its final homestand at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16 against Villanova. On Sunday, Marquette will honor its lone senior, Shantelle Valentine, prior the matchup against Georgetown.

Allazia Blockton collected her fifth BIG EAST Weekly Honor this week after going 2-0 this past weekend. The Milwaukee native averaged 21 points, eight rebounds and 3.5 assists over the weekend. During the games against Xavier, Blockton passed Arlesia Morse for ninth-highest all time scoring.

WLAX begins home slate this weekend
The women's lacrosse team hosts Central Michigan and Kennesaw State this weekend at Valley Fields. Marquette will face CMU at 3 p.m. on Friday and host KSU on Sunday at noon. The Golden Eagles opened their season last weekend, dropping both games at then-No. 22 Johns Hopkins and Louisville. Junior Grace Gabriel landed a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her play over the weekend with six goals and 10 draw controls.

T&F competes at final meet prior to indoor championships
Track and Field heads to Madison, Wisconsin for its final tune-up prior to the 2018 BIG EAST Indoor Championships. The meet will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin with field events beginning at 2:30 p.m. Last weekend, senior Joshua Word broke Marquette's 60-meter dash record for the second time this year with a time of 6.85 seconds. Freshman Emma Moracev also broke the women's freshman record in the 600 meter for the second time.
