Chase Young opened scoring for the Wolverines at the 11:52 mark of the opening quarter and Michigan led 6-1 after one quarter of play. Young added another to start the second frame as the Wolverines built their largest lead at 7-1.
Connor McClelland posted the game's second goal to knot things 1-1 with 11:05 left in the first prior to the U-M run. It was Wagner who broke the Wolverine scoring run roughly four minutes into the second frame and Fleming posted his first two career goals to pull MU within three, 7-4, with 6:51 remaining before the half.
The Golden Eagles nearly pulled the game within a pair late in the second, but a Bob Pelton score was wiped away with the extra man as MU was credited with a timeout prior to the shot. U-M then scored after killing the penalty to take an 8-4 lead into the break.
Mack tallied his fifth goal of the afternoon in the third quarter to give the Wolverines back a six-goal edge, 10-4.
Wagner and Jack Zerrillo each scored at the end of the third to pull MU back within four, but MU could not get any closer as Brent Noseworthy scored twice for the Wolverines in the final frame.
The game was the first regular season contest between the two programs, who have met multiple times in preseason scrimmages.
The Golden Eagles return to Milwaukee for four of their next five games, including Saturday's season opener against No. 11 Georgetown at Valley Fields.
