Blazer and Wagner are BIG EAST Players of the Week

NEW YORK - Marquette University junior John Wagner and senior Cole Blazer were each honored by the BIG EAST Conference on Monday for their roles in the men's lacrosse team's 9-8 overtime victory over then-No. 16/18 Georgetown on Saturday afternoon.
Wagner, who is the BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week, scored four goals, including the game winner just 35 seconds into overtime. The St. Davids, Ontario native leads the Golden Eagles (4-3, 1-0 BIG EAST) with 13 goals and 18 points on the season and has scored three clutch game winners in MU's four victories this season. He potted the winner with under 10 seconds remaining in the season opener against Jacksonville and an overtime winner on March 2 against then-No. 4/6 Ohio State.
He was also named to the league's weekly honor roll on Feb. 19 after his performance against Jacksonville.
Blazer is the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after posting a season-high 15 saves against the Hoyas. He made six saves in the second quarter and three each in the first, second and fourth as Marquette held on for its fourth one-goal victory all-time against Georgetown.
Marquette continues league play at Valley Fields against No. 8 Villanova (7-2) on Saturday, March 31 at 11 a.m. Central time. The game will be played in the seasonal dome in the Valley and is officially sold out. It will air live on GoMarquette.com
