MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's tennis squad closed out the 2018 dual regular season falling in a 6-0 decision against DePaul at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
DePaul grabbed the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles action, though the No. 2 tandem of Andrea Amortegui and Paula Tormos Sanchez took a 6-2 win over the Blue Demons.
In singles, the Blue Demons took the first three singles victories to clinch the victory over Marquette (11-9). Prior to the match, Marquette honored Tormos in her final match at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
The Golden Eagles now travel to the 2018 BIG EAST Tennis Championships in Cayce, S.C. The first round begins on Thursday, April 26 with quarterfinals action beginning on Friday, April 27. Seeding will be determined early in the week.
