Three singles victories highlight opening day
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- The Marquette University women's tennis team opened play at the Hoosier Classic on Friday on the campus of Indiana University.
Three singles victories highlighted the day for the Golden Eagles as freshman Elisabeth Desmarais fought to a victory in her match against Middle Tennessee State, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6). Lesley Foe topped Western Michigan, 6-4, 7-5 and Alexandrina Chinikovatook down Louisville, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles action Friday afternoon Chinikova teamed with Isabella Franks as the duo topped Cincinnati, 8-4.
Play resumes on Saturday morning in Bloomington.
