
Barber and Werch Earn BIG EAST Weekly Awards

Barber is Offensive Player of the Week, Werch chosen to the Honor Roll
NEW YORK—Marquette University volleyball senior Allie Barber has been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while junior Hope Werch was selected to the league's weekly honor roll, the BIG EAST announced on Tuesday.
Barber led the Golden Eagles (25-3, 15-1) with 5.25 kills per set, while hitting .287 in a pair of victories over Georgetown and Villanova. Against the Hoyas Barber tallied 22 kills and became Marquette's all-time kills leader. She followed that performance with 20 kills in the four-set win over the Wildcats.
Werch compiled two stellar performances with back-to-back double-doubles. Against the Wildcats she connected on 16 kills and collected 14 digs, while hitting .387. She averaged 3.38 kills per set, hitting at a .418 clip and tallied 3.25 digs per frame.
This is the sixth time this season Barber has been named Offensive Player of the Week, while Werch earns her fifth weekly award.
No. 9 Marquette concludes the regular season at Creighton and Providence on Friday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 24, respectively. The Golden Eagles are tied with the Bluejays at the top of the league standings.
