Bombacino led MU with seven goals and is on the all-league second team
NEW YORK – Marquette University women's soccer sophomore Alyssa Bombacino and freshman Josie Kelderman each earned postseason honors from the BIG EAST Conference, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Bombacino was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, while Kelderman earned BIG EAST All-Freshman Team honors as a rookie defender.
Bombacino led the Golden Eagles in 2019 with seven goals and 15 points as a sophomore after earning all-freshman honors last season. The Naperville, Illinois native posted hat tricks in back-to-back matches against Seton Hall and Villanova during conference play and added an assist in 2019. She notched match winners in three of MU's six victories this season and scored on over 40 percent of her shots taken (7-of-17).
Kelderman started all but two matches as a first-year player, posting a match winner at Minnesota on Sept. 5 along with a team-high three assists on the year. The Glendale, Wisconsin native started in the midfield early in the season before switching to right back where she finished the year on defense.
The Golden Eagles concluded the season 6-11-1 overall and 3-5-1 in BIG EAST action.
