The Golden Eagles take on Dayton in the first round on Friday
MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University women's volleyball team has earned a ninth consecutive berth to the NCAA Championship as the bracket was revealed on Sunday evening.
The Golden Eagles (27-5) will travel to West Lafayette, Ind. and the host No. 16 national seed Purdue. The Golden Eagles will face Dayton (22-8) on Friday, Dec. 6 and the winner will advance to the second round and take on the winner of No. 16 Purdue and Wright State. The second-round contest is set for Saturday, Dec. 7.
"There is a lot of tough first weekend matchups out there in this bracket and a lot of really good teams," head coach Ryan Theis said. "We probably missed an opportunity to be seeded this weekend and now we have to go on the road and try to make up for that loss."
MU is one of three BIG EAST programs to advance to the NCAA Tournament this season along with BIG EAST regular season champion Creighton and St. John's, which earned the league's automatic bid after winning the 2019 conference tournament.
