STIMMEL ON 2020 CLASS
MILWAUKEE – First-year Marquette University head men's lacrosse coach Andrew Stimmel has officially announced the signing of 15 student-athletes as part of his 2020 recruiting class.
"The 2020 class is a great group overall," Stimmel said. "It's a great group top to bottom, offensively and defensively, in goal and at the face-off X. We really feel like it's a class that has a lot of depth. Across the board we've been able to put together a class that is going to come in a push for minutes right away and I think have a chance to make an instant impact."
All 15 student-athletes will have four years of eligibility remaining when they arrive on campus and 14 of the 15 will arrive next summer or fall. One player, Luke Williams from IMG Academy, will join Marquette for the second semester of this academic year in January.
The group includes three attackmen, six midfielders, one face-off specialist, four long pole players and a goalie in Jamie Grant from St. Paul's School in Baltimore.
Eight states and one Canadian province (Ontario) are represented, while a total of six student-athletes hail from the Baltimore area, including Grant, Ryan Kilcoyne, David Lamarca, Russell Melendez, Justin Mintzer and Pierce Washburn. Kilcoyne and Mintzer both attend Calvert Hall, where they are the first players to sign with Marquette.
Jack Kinney and Luke Rios signed with the Golden Eagles from Centennial, Colorado where they attend Cherry Creek High School, alma mater of current MU midfielder Jacob Hallam. Ellison Burt-Murray and Williams were late additions to the class out of IMG Academy in Florida, though Burt-Murry is an Atlanta native and Williams comes from Mendota Heights, Minnesota.
On attack, Hudson Thomson continues the family legacy at Marquette as the third Thomson brother to sign with MU. Former All-BIG EAST midfielder Tanner Thomson and current attackman Keaton Thomson each attended St. Michael's College alongside senior Connor McClelland.
The Golden Eagles also added another MU legacy in LSM Billy Rojack of Seton Hall Prep in New Jersey. Rojack's father is a Marquette alumnus.
Midfielders Jordon Celeslie and Charlie DiGiacomo round out MU's class from Missouri and Connecticut, respectively.
