Romagnoli is the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week
NEW YORK – Marquette University's Andrew Romagnoli was named the BIG EAST Conference Men's Lacrosse Midfielder of the Week and Nick Grill earned honor roll recognition, it was announced on Monday afternoon.
Romagnoli posted four points on two goals and a pair of assists in the 14-12 win at Jacksonville on Friday, Feb. 15. He was one of nine Golden Eagles to score in the contest, while earning the start in the midfield.
The graduate student posted his first goal in the second quarter to give MU a 7-2 lead and his second marker in the third quarter as part of a 3-0 MU run. That scoring spurt helped the Golden Eagles regain a cushion after the Dolphins had pulled within one.
Grill also played a key role in helping Marquette hold off JU, causing two turnovers and posting a career-best six ground balls.
The weekly recognition is the second of Grill's career, while Romagnoli earns his first BIG EAST weekly honor after garnering two Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week honors during 2017 at Delaware.
The Golden Eagles (2-0) return to action on Saturday, Feb. 23 against Detroit Mercy at Valley Fields. The noon Central time game airs live on GoMarquette.com with a broadcast produced by the Marquette Wire, MU's student-run media organization.
