MU captured four event titles on Saturday after posting one on Friday
TAMPA, Florida – The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams concluded their weekend of action on Saturday with their throwers taking part in the South Florida Collegiate at USF Track Stadium.
The Golden Eagles claimed four event victories on Saturday at USF following Brendan McKinney's winning hammer throw on Friday evening. Senior Terrence Howard won the men's shot put and finished second in the discus with a new personal-best mark of 54.91 meters (180 feet, 2 inches). McKinney slotted in right behind Howard in the discus with his own PR and was third in the shot put. Howard's discus toss is the fourth-longest toss in MU history, while McKinney moves up to fifth all-time at MU.
Fellow senior Eric Fellin won the men's javelin at 53.10 meters (174-2) and Amanda Hodgson was second in the women's javelin while notching a new personal best of 37.52 meters (123-1), which puts her seventh on MU's all-time list.
Keely Knobbe followed up a second-place finish in the women's hammer throw on Friday by winning the discus on Saturday with a top toss of 44.83 meters (147-1). Knobbe also finished as runner-up to Allie Flando in the shot put.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, April 24 in the Marquette Midweek Challenge at Valley Fields. MU will also send athletes to the Drake Relays and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater over the weekend.
