Richard joins brother and current MU assistant, Jacob, on the Atlas LC roster
MILWAUKEE – Noah Richard of the Marquette University men's lacrosse team was selected 14th overall by Atlas LC in the third round of the 2019 Premier Lacrosse League Collegiate Draft, it was announced early Wednesday morning.
Richard, who was also drafted 25th overall by the Chesapeake Bayhawks in the MLL Draft in March, is the first Golden Eagle selected in league's inaugural collegiate draft. He joins brother Jacob Richard on the Atlas LC roster, along with former MU volunteer assistant coach Ryan Brown.
The West Chester, Pennsylvania native has established himself as one of the premier long-stick midfielders in NCAA Division I and was the BIG EAST Conference's unanimous choice at the position on its 2018 all-league first team and 2019 preseason team.
Richard, a 2019 Senior CLASS Award candidate, is one of only two players in Marquette history with at least 150 ground balls and 40 caused turnovers in his career. This season, the senior leads MU with 61 ground balls, has forced 19 turnovers and posted eight points, while also filling in occasionally at the face-off dot.
In addition to the Richard brothers, former MU defenseman B.J. Grill will play for Chrome LC in the PLL this season. Seven former Golden Eagles also enter the 2019 season on Major League Lacrosse rosters, led by former USILA All-Americans Liam Byrnes and Ryan McNamara.
Atlas LC selected Virginia's Ryan Conrad, Duke's Cade Van Raaphorst and Michigan's Brent Noseworthy, in addition to Richard in the four-round draft. Richard was also one of two BIG EAST players selected in the draft, following Colton Jackson of Denver, who went 13th overall.
