1. What is your proudest moment as a Marquette lacrosse player?
Nick Singleton: Winning 2017 BIG EAST Championship my first year: After that I knew I belonged on this team and it clicked with me that I was a part of something much greater than myself.
Â
2. What is your most memorable experience with the team?
Singleton: My most memorable experience is all the little moments that I will remember. Whether it is wandering the airport together, having team dinner, or sitting at Cobeen eating lunch, all these experiences are the most memorable for me.
Â
3. What's the best advice one of your coaches at MU has given you?
Singleton: The best advice I have gotten at MU is when Coach Amplo has talked about focusing on the next 200 feet. This goes along with one of our principles of engagement and being where your feet are. Whether in class or practice focusing on what is right in front of you, the next 200 feet, not worrying about anything else, and completing that to the best of your ability is a mindset that has really helped me. This is something I will take with me beyond Marquette.
Â
4. What's the best advice a teammate has given you?
Singleton: This isn't necessarily a verbal piece of advice, but I will never forget the example that Nick Eufrasio set my first year on the team. The way he carried himself on and off the field is something I noticed and looked up to a lot. He worked hard, was locked in, and was a leader not because of what he said, but by his actions. Watching how 'Eufray' carried himself definitely had an impact on me.
Â
5. What's the best advice you could offer future Marquette lacrosse players?
Singleton: The best advice I could give a future Marquette lacrosse player is to dive head first into being a part of this program and this campus. This place and more importantly the people here are special. They want the absolute best for you and if you jump in from the moment you step on campus you will quickly realize this love is at the root of everything here. It's not going to be easy, but the reward you will gain from understanding this, being fully IN, and demanding excellence of yourself in everything you do will carry with you long after your time here is done.
Â
6. What has motivated you?
Singleton: There are a number of things that have motivated me. Coming in I was motivated to prove that I belonged, to prove that I was more than just a walk-on. Since then I have been motivated by this team, the guys that came before me, the coaches and players that will be here after me. I am honored to be a part of something much greater than myself. Honoring all those that I mentioned is what motivates me.
Â
7. Most memorable game?
Singleton: The most memorable game for me is our game against Providence in 2018 because it was craziest finish to a game that I have ever witnessed or had the chance to be a part of.
Â
8. Do you feel a rivalry developing with any opponents you have played?
Singleton: I feel that there is a rivalry present with all the teams in the BIG EAST. Going in you know each game is going to be a one-goal game and the team that plays the best on that day is going to win.
Â
9. How do you think you've changed as a player or person over your career at Marquette?
Singleton: During my career at Marquette I have grown a lot as a lacrosse player and improved a ton, but more so, this place has helped me to grow as a man. I know what it means and looks like to be a leader. I have matured and feel confident that Marquette has prepared me to step into the 'real' world and be successful.
Â
10. What have you learned that you will take with you as you move on from MU?
Singleton: I have learned so many things that I will take with me from Marquette. One thing that stands out is the importance that love holds within a team and an organization. I have learned that when love is at the root, everything you do, everything you accomplish means that much more and is that much more memorable. A culture built on loving relationships can and will transcend any hardship or trial. That is what makes this program so special in my mind.Â
Â
11. What are your post-graduation plans?
Singleton: I am planning on going down to Austin, Texas this summer to work as a recruiting intern with the University of Texas football program. Completing an internship is a requirement for the completion of the remainder of my exercise physiology degree.
