Meyers claims MVP honors
The Marquette University men's tennis program honored six players at its annual awards banquet, following the conclusion of the 2018-19 campaign.

Junior Brett Meyers claimed the Most Valuable Player Award after leading the team with 25 total singles victories.Ā He was 15-7 in dual action and teamed up with senior Alvaro Verdu to post a 12-2 mark in doubles.

The Most Improved Player Award was shared by junior Alexander Warstler and freshman Fran San Andres.Ā Warstler posted personal-best single-season marks in singles, doubles and overall victories.Ā San Andres accounted for seven singles wins in dual action and became a consistent member of the squad's doubles lineup.

Senior Greg Anderson and junior Brandon Shanklin shared the Coaches Attitude Award.Ā This honor recognizes the team member with the best work ethic on the court and in the classroom.

Freshman Shaddy Khalafallah, who has aspirations of becoming a doctor, earned the Academic Award.Ā
The Golden Eagles finished 15-9 this year and advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament title match for the fifth-straight year, falling to top-seeded St. John's.Ā Marquette earned its first-ever title in 2018.
