Zadroga aims to pursue his passions in fitness and music following graduation
1. What is your proudest moment as a Marquette lacrosse player?
Mikey Zadroga III: My proudest moment is being part of the back-to-back BIG EAST Championships. It was amazing to do what we did and I will never forget it.
Â
2. What is your most memorable experience with the team?
Zadroga: Hands down the trip to Italy. That senior class was truly special and being able to have that be our last time together was surreal. That's also the first and only time I've been outside of the US, so it was just incredible that we had that opportunity.
3. What's the best advice one of your coaches at MU has given you?
Zadroga: The best advice I have been given from one of my coaches at MU is to do something every day that makes you uncomfortable.
4. What's the best advice a teammate has given you?
Zadroga: Best advice a teammate has ever given me was to always be myself and pursue what I love.Â
5. What's the best advice you could offer future Marquette lacrosse players?
Zadroga: I have a couple pieces of advice. For starters I would say to go into everything with a clear mind. Marquette University has so many things to offer and you should never turn down opportunities to learn and grow, even if they are unfamiliar and uncomfortable. You never know how that one little thing could change you and impact you forever. So, explore and step out of your comfort zone as much as possible if you truly want to make the most of this opportunity in front of you.
Â
The other piece of advice I would give is to always find the positive in everything you do. There are going to be tough times and failures but keep moving forward and it will work out, I promise you. Lastly, don't half-ass anything you do – you get back what you put in. You have an incredible opportunity in front of you and if you give your all every day, you will look back not only with no regrets, but you will be extremely grateful for how much you have grown as a person and a player.
6. What has motivated you?
Zadroga: My family has always been my source of motivation. They have done so many things to help me get to where I am today and it's my turn to pay them back. Every day I am reminded that I have to give my all in order to make my family proud.
7. Most memorable game?
Zadroga: Villanova 2016 in the Valley. The atmosphere was arguably the best I've ever been a part of. It was snowing, freezing cold, and we crushed them. I think it served as fuel for us making that run ending in the first ever BIG EAST Championship.
8. How do you think you've changed as a player or person over your career at Marquette?
Zadroga: I think I have completely changed as a player and a person. As a player, just dealing with injuries changes you and I haven't felt the same since my sophomore year. As a person, while I hold onto to things deep in my core, I just believe I have become a better more well-rounded human being.
9. What have you learned that you will take with you as you move on from MU?
Zadroga: I have learned many things throughout my time at MU, but I think the two biggest things are to put yourself in uncomfortable situations and to be vulnerable. I think they go hand in hand because vulnerability is uncomfortable, but I just feel these two things are super important for continuing to grow as a person.
10. What are your post-graduation plans?
Zadroga: My post-graduation plans aren't fully figured out and I am 100 percent ok with that. I know that I want to create my personal brand in two industries, the fitness and music industries. I could not see myself doing a typical 9-5 and it's going to be tough to do, but I want the challenge.
