Six Individuals, Team Earn IWLCA Academic Honors

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's lacrosse team is one of 94 Division I women's lacrosse programs to earn 2019 Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad recognition, the IWLCA announced today.
312 collegiate programs across Division I, II, III and NAIA were chosen for the honor squad, which is comprised of teams with a cumulative minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2018-19 academic year.
The Golden Eagles finished the year with a 3.324 GPA as a team. This marks the sixth-straight season under head coach Meredith Black the Golden Eagles have earned this prestigious honor.
The 2018-19 academic year signified the most-ever individual selections for MU as Bridget Danko, Logan Dobratz, Laine Dolan, Grace Gabriel, Julianna Horning and Charlotte McGuire were all named to the Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and possess a 3.50 GPA or higher.
Marquette's previous high of four honor roll recipients occurred last year when Dobratz, Dolan, Gabriel and Jordan Simonides were honored.
The Golden Eagles finished the 2019 season with nine victories and qualified for the BIG EAST tournament semifinals for the second straight season. Coach Black's program continued to reach new heights in 2018-19 after posting their first-ever win over a top-25 program after defeating No. 24 Georgetown on April 27.
MU also hosted a conference tournament game for the first time in program history last season. The Golden Eagles earned the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST and hosted Georgetown in the conference tournament semifinals on May 2.
