MILWAUKEE – Marquette University head men's lacrosse coach Andrew Stimmel has announced the additions of Major League Lacrosse All-Star Brendan Kavanagh and former MU defenseman Brendon Connolly to his first coaching staff.
Kavanagh will serve as a volunteer assistant coach, while Connolly joins the staff while finishing up his undergraduate degree in marketing.
Kavanagh made his first MLL All-Star game as a rookie in 2019 as one of the top point producers for the Denver Outlaws. The attackman recorded 37 points over his first 13 professional contests after being drafted by the Outlaws in the 2018 supplemental draft.
The Rockville Centre, New York native wrapped up a standout career at Hofstra in the spring of 2018 with 75 points in 51 games. He recorded a career-best 29 goals and six assists as a junior in 2017 on his way to First Team All-CAA accolades.
Kavanagh attended Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale, New York and earned his bachelor's degree in business management from Hofstra in 2018.
Connolly finished his playing career at Marquette in 2019 as one of its most accomplished long poles in program history. The Towson, Maryland native ended his career fifth in caused turnovers (35), eighth in ground balls (72) and started every game in which he appeared as a junior and senior. He played long-stick midfielder as a freshman and sophomore before switching to close defense for his final two seasons in Milwaukee.
Connolly helped the Golden Eagles to a pair of BIG EAST tournament championships and NCAA appearances in 2016 and 2017, the first in program history.
The four-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection is currently finishing his bachelor's degree in marketing.
