Shanklin picks up singles and doubles win
The Marquette University men's tennis team (0-2) dropped a 5-2 decision at Iowa (3-1) Saturday afternoon in non-conference action from Iowa City, Iowa.
For the second-straight match the Golden Eagles claimed the doubles point for an early 1-0. MU was victorious at the No. 2 and 3 positions to secure the point. The tandem of senior Brandon Shanklin and freshman Stefan Dragovic clinched the point with a narrow 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot.
Unfortunately for Marquette, Shanklin was the only player able to secure a singles victory. He posted a 7-5, 7-5 win over Iowa's Matt Clegg at No. 6. The Golden Eagles lineup did take three matches to the third set, but came up short in each matchup.
