Marquette University men's lacrosse players have scattered across the world since graduation. This Alumni Spotlight feature provides personal and professional updates on the student-athletes who represented the University on the field and continue to be ambassadors.
Defensive midfielder Zach Barr played in 50 games as a defensive midfielder during a four-year career which coincided with the first four seasons of the programs' existence. As one of 19 seniors in 2016, Barr helped lead the Golden Eagles to their first BIG EAST tournament championship and NCAA Championship berth.
Zach Barr | 2013-16 | Downington, Pa.
Â
Location:
Chicago, Illinois
Â
Employer/Profession:
Following a short stint in IT Consulting at Capgemini, I took a position as Technology Operations Engineer at Eagle Seven Trading, primarily supporting our automated low-latency trading platform. I have since been promoted to Site Reliability Engineer where I am responsible for maintaining performance of our global technology infrastructure, bridging the gap between development and operations by applying a software engineering mindset to system administration.
Â
What I remember best about Marquette:
Beating Denver in the 2016 BIG EAST Championship and carrying the trophy through the airport on the way home ... living with six of my best friends in the Mansion ... work capacity circuits with Todd Smith ... walking across the bridge to the Valley for practice as a freshman ... walking through the snow or digging cars out of the snow to get to 6 a.m. workouts ... and Joe Amplo practices, conditioning, and personal conversations.
Â
Fun Fact:
I've lived with five different former Marquette men's lacrosse players/friends from four different classes in two different houses since I graduated, the current one being KC Kennedy.
