Popovic and Franks pick up singles wins
MILWAUKEE-- It was a second straight day of a battle on the tennis court as the Marquette women's tennis squad dropped another narrow 4-3 decision to Wisconsin on Sundaya afternoon.
The Golden Eagles (2-2) started strong winning the doubles point with victories from Natalija Popovic and Fleur Eggink (6-1) along with Elisabeth Desmarais and Giulia Turconi, 6-4.
Popovic won again at No. 3 singles, 7-6, 7-5 and Isabella Franks claimed a tough 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 win at the No. 5 position to give Marquette its three points.
The Golden Eagles hit the road to take on Iowa and Minnesota on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9, respectively. Both matches will be played at the University of Minnesota.
