Mason Woodward on USILA Team of the Week

The freshman had eight ground balls in the win at Cleveland State
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky - Marquette University freshman Mason Woodward was named to the USILA/Warrior and New Balance Division I Team of the Week on Tuesday afternoon for his play in Saturday's season-opening win at Cleveland State.
The Towson, Maryland native was impressive in his NCAA debut, posting eight ground balls while causing three turnovers on Feb. 1. His ground ball total ties the MU freshman single-game record, with 2019 MLL Defensive Player of the Year Liam Byrnes, and is the most ever for a player in a Marquette debut. It is also the highest mark for a true freshman in program history.
Woodward is only the third Marquette player to earn weekly accolades from the USILA and the first since John Wagner was recognized on March 27, 2018.
The Golden Eagles (1-0) continue the 2020 campaign at Valley Fields on Saturday, Feb. 8 at noon Central time against Bellarmine in their home opener. All fans in attendance receive the team's 2020 schedule poster.
