Connolly, MU's current undergraduate assistant coach, selected by the MLL Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks
MILWAUKEE – Former Marquette University men's lacrosse players Brendon Connolly and Tanner Thomson were each selected in the 2020 Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft on Wednesday.
Connolly was picked up by the Chesapeake Bayhawks while Thomson was chosen by the newly rebranded Philadelphia Barrage.
Connolly, a four-time BIG EAST All-Academic team selection who picked up 72 ground balls and caused 35 turnovers while playing with the Golden Eagles, joins former teammate John Wagner with the Bayhawks. During his rookie campaign, Wagner led the Bayhawks to championship in 2019 while posting 13 points on nine goals and four assists.
Thomson, who played two games with the Atlanta Blaze during the 2019 season, will again play alongside former Marquette and Blaze teammate Liam Byrnes with the Barrage. Thomson was also picked by the Saskatchewan Rush of the National Lacrosse League in September as the 16th overall pick, becoming the first player in Golden Eagle history to be picked first round of the college draft.
