
Kirschner, Woodward and Cowan on College Crosse All-Freshman Team

The three freshmen led the Golden Eagles in 2020
MILWAUKEE - Three Marquette University men's lacrosse players, Chris Kirschner, Mason Woodward and Devon Cowan have earned all-freshman recognition from the College Crosse blog.
Kirschner and Woodward each earned first team honors, while Cowan was recognized with honorable mention.
Kirschner led the Golden Eagles in scoring as a rookie with 16 goals and four assists for a team-high 20 points. The Flemington, New Jersey native posted at least two goals in each of his first five collegiate games and became the fourth player in program history with hat tricks in three consecutive games. He also earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors on Feb. 17 and posted a pair of game winning goals.
Woodward emerged as the top option for the Golden Eagles' back end, where he started all seven games as a close defenseman. The Towson, Maryland native picked up 28 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers, while also pitching in offensively with a goal in the season finale at Michigan on March 11.
Cowan notched five points in his collegiate debut at Cleveland State on Feb. 1 with a hat trick and pair of assists. He ended the season second on MU in both scoring (nine goals) and points (17) behind Kirschner.
The Golden Eagles ended the shortened 2020 campaign at 3-4 under first-year head coach Andrew Stimmel.Â
