Anderson is the seventh former Golden Eagle chosen in the MLL Collegiate Draft
MILWAUKEE – Marquette University senior Luke Anderson was selected by the Chesapeake Bayhawks 36th overall in the sixth round of the 2020 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft.
Anderson served as one of Marquette's primary short stick midfielders in each of the last three campaigns and concluded his NCAA career with 16 goals, four assists, 69 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers in 38 games. He sits tied for ninth in program history in ground balls.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder scored nine goals and posted three assists in 2019 and added a pair of scores in seven games as a senior. His junior year goal (9) and point (12) totals are the highest single-season marks ever for a defensive midfielder at MU. Both marks topped the previous high of four goals and seven points recorded by current assistant coach/defensive coordinator Jacob Richard during the 2015 campaign.
Anderson is the seventh Marquette player to be selected in the MLL Collegiate Draft, following long-stick midfielder Noah Richard, who was chosen with the 25th pick in the 2019 draft, also by Chesapeake.
He joins a Bayhawks team that is coming off a championship season in 2019 and includes former teammates John Wagner and Brendon Connolly, who was recently selected by the squad in the MLL Supplemental Draft.
In addition to Wagner and Connolly, in the MLL he joins league defensive player of the year Liam Byrnes as well as Ryan McNamara, Zachary Melillo and Tanner Thomson.
