
Marquette puts 267 on BIG EAST All-Academic Team

Over 80 percent of MU's student-athletes were recognized for academic prowess
NEW YORK – Eighty-three percent of Marquette University's 320 student-athletes were named to the 2019-20 BIG EAST All-Academic Team, the BIG EAST Conference announced.
A total of 267 Marquette student-athletes appeared on the list, led by 44 men's lacrosse student-athletes. This year's total is the most Marquette has ever put on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, topping last year's number of 220.
Nominations for the All-Academic Team are submitted by each of the BIG EAST's 10 member schools and affiliate institutions. To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.

There are 2,768 honorees across all 10 permanent institutions and affiliate members for the 2019-20 academic year.

The Golden Eagles also had 43 individuals earn perfect 4.0 GPAs for spring 2020.
