
Baird 'Blue & Gold' Student-Athlete: Shaddy Khalafallah

Khalafallah is a three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team member
Khalafallah is a senior of the men's tennis team, majoring in physiological sciences. He has earned Dean's List, BIG EAST All-Academic Team honors, and Athletics Director's Honor Roll each semester. He has been a research associate with the Midwestern Cardiovascular Research Foundation, where he also co-authored a review article on venous stent deployment, published in the JAAC Cardiovascular Interventions journal. Most recently, he spent the summer as a research associate working with dementia patients in Chicago, in partnership with Rush Medicine and Yale University, studying use of art therapy with dementia patients.
Khalafallah is also a peer-tutor for science courses in the academic center with academic services, and has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters. He volunteered in the Aurora Medical Center emergency room, and beginning in January 2021 has volunteered at Aurora's COVID vaccine clinic and with CovidgivingMKE, a fundraising project for COVID relief efforts in Milwaukee. After graduation, he plans to attend medical school and is the application process now.
