
Van Kleunen Named to Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team

The graduate student forward averaged 13.2 points and 5.8 rebounds in 2020-21
MILWAUKEE – Graduate student forward Lauren Van Kleunen (Mason, O.H., Mason HS) has been named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team, the league office announced on Tuesday morning at its annual media day.
Van Kleunen started in all 26 games for the Golden Eagles in the 2020-21 season. She was second on the team in scoring last season averaging a career-high 13.2 points per game. She was ranked 16th in the league in scoring and 17th in rebounding last season. She scored in double figures in 20 of the team's 26 games and scored 20-or-more in four of those games.
The graduate student forward received Second Team All-BIG EAST honors in 20-21. She was also named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team and All-Academic Team. She was the recipient of the BIG EAST Sportsmanship Award.
As a team, the Golden Eagles were picked by their peers to finish fourth in the BIG EAST in 2021-22. Reigning conference champions, UConn, received 10 first-place votes.
Head Coach Megan Duffy is entering her third year at the helm of the Golden Eagles. She led the Golden Eagles to a 19-7 (14-4 BIG EAST) record last season and a runner-up finish in the conference.
The Golden Eagles are set to kick off their season at home on Nov. 9 at 6 pm vs. Alcorn State.
