Reitsma led Marquette to wins over Georgetown and Villanova
NEW YORK - For the first time this season, Marquette University outside hitter Jenna Reitsma was named the BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Reitsma led Marquette with 22 kills (3.67 per set) in a 2-0 week as the Golden Eagles secured a share of the BIG EAST regular season title with wins over Georgetown and Villanova. She stepped into the void at outside hitter following recent injuries to Hannah Vanden Berg and Hope Werch and hit a combined .246 with seven service aces.
The Lowell, Michigan native hit .409 with 11 kills in Friday's win over Georgetown and followed that up with another 11 terminations against Villanova along with six digs, three blocks and a career-best five service aces.
