All-Time Series Dates Back To 1922-23
     Â
Marquette Marquette's all-time series against Creighton spans nearly the entirety of the program's 104-year history.Â
     Â
Prior to 2013-14, when the Bluejays joined the BIG EAST, the most recent meeting between the two programs came in the 1998 National Invitation Tournament. MU posted an 80-68 victory in the opening round at the Bradley Center en route to an appearance in the event's quarterfinals.
     Â
The two programs split the season series in 2020-21, witch each team winning on the road. The Golden Eagles claimed an 89-84 win at No. 9/9 Creighton on Dec. 14 in the league opener for both teams. In the Feb. 6 matchup at Fiserv Forum, the No. 15/12 Bluejays held off a late Marquette rally for a 71-68 decision.
     Â
Since joining the BIG EAST in 2005-06, the Golden Eagles have played on New Year's Day six times, winning each of the four matchups at home. Creighton claimed a 92-75 win on Jan. 1, 2020 in Omaha in the most recent outing.
Â
Kolek, Kur Enter 2022 On Top
     Â
As the 2021-22 campaign enters the new year, Marquette players Tyler Kolek and Kur Kuath rank No. 1 among league players in assists and blocked shots, respectively.
     Â
Kolek is dishing out 5.9 assists per game (16th in nation through games of Dec. 29) to lead the league and is also ranked fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1). Kuath has already swatted 38 shots (2.9 bpg., 17th in nation) and owns three-or-more blocks in eight outings this season.
     Â
With Kolek leading the way, Marquette's 16.2 assists per game as a team is the second-best mark in the BIG EAST and 44th in the nation. Saturday's matchup will feature the league's top-two shot blockers in Kuath and Creighton's Ryan Kalkbrenner, who is currently second and 2.8 swats per outing.
Â
OMax Prospers In Return To Starting Lineup
    Â
Forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper returned to the starting lineup in the team's latest outing against UConn and concluded the night with his most productive game as a Golden Eagle.
     Â
The Montreal, Quebec, native finished with a season-high 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor in 30 minutes of action. He also found time to chip in five rebounds and three assists. Prosper started each of the first seven games, but only reached double figures on one occasion (11 vs. Jackson State) and had come off the bench in each of the last five games.
     Â
Prosper's 13 points marked a career high for the Clemson transfer, who scored 11 points for the Tigers against South Carolina State on Dec. 2, 2020.
