Sophia Leva saved a career-high 15 shots
MILWAUKEE -Â The Marquette women's lacrosse team lost a hard-fought 14-10 battle against No. 19 Louisville on Sunday afternoon at Valley Fields.
Senior Caroline Steller led the way for MU offensively this afternoon, tallying four points with two goals and two assists. Lydia Foust and Hannah Greving also had two goals apiece. Senior goalie Sophia Leva was excellent all afternoon, snagging a career-high 15 saves to keep MU close.
The loss snaps Marquette's three-game win streak and gives them an even 3-3 (0-0 BIG EAST) record on the year.Â
Louisville (4-2, 0-1 ACC) got on the board first with a goal from Hannah Morris after just 1:06 of play. Marquette then went on a 4-0 run with goals from Leigh Steiner, Hannah Greving and two goals from Lydia Foust.

The Cardinals responded, going on a 6-0 run of their own to take a 7-4 lead. Steller was able to find Emma Soccodato for a goal right before the end of the half to cut the lead to two goals.
The Golden Eagles were able to cut the deficit down to one goal at 8-7 after eight minutes of play thanks to goals from Steller and Megan Menzuber. The Cardinals attack continued to produce, however, and they scored 5 of the games next six goals to take a five-goal lead.
UofL led 14-9 before a late free position goal from Steller cut the deficit to 14-10, which was the final score.

Senior Ally Hall netted a game-high five goals for UofL, including three in the second half. Hannah Morris finished with a hat-trick.
