
Volleyball sweeps Butler on Saturday afternoon

The Golden Eagles rebounded from Friday's loss for a sweep at Hinkle Fieldhouse

INDIANAPOLIS – Taylor Wolf had a season-high 15 kills and the No. 24 Marquette University women's volleyball team rebounded from Friday's five-set loss with a 3-0 sweep over Butler on Saturday afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Wolf landed almost half of her 31 swings for kills as the Golden Eagles (9-3, 4-2 BIG EAST) hit a combined .287. Sophomore Hannah Vanden Berg posted 13 kills on a .462 attack percentage and was perfect on 13 service receptions with the Bulldogs serving.
Claire Nuessmeier posted four blocks up front for Marquette, which also received a pair of blocks from both Savannah Rennie and Wolf. Rennie landed seven kills on 13 errorless swings to hit .538.
Marisa Guisti led the Bulldogs (4-6, 1-3 BIG EAST) with eight kills and Brittany Robinson had seven.
Marquette claimed the opening set, 25-17, by hitting a match-high .348, led by seven kills from Wolf and four apiece from Vanden Berg and Hope Werch.
The Golden Eagles trailed, 16-15, midway through the second set, but Kaitlyn Lines responded with a kill out of a timeout and Marquette won, 25-22. MU hit .325 and was again led by five kills from Wolf.
Marquette jumped out to a commanding 12-2 lead in the third set and cruised to a 25-13 win while forcing the Bulldogs to hit -.214 with nine attack errors.
The Golden Eagles return to action on March 13-14 against Xavier in Cincinnati.
