Hawley will serve as a volunteer assistant coach and Kearney as director of lacrosse operations
MILWAUKEE - Head coach Andrew Stimmel has announced the addition of two individuals to the men's lacrosse staff for the 2022 campaign in volunteer assistant coach Chris Hawley and director of lacrosse operations Brendan Kearney.
Hawley comes from Virginia Wesleyan University, where he served as an assistant men's lacrosse coach responsible for coaching the goalies, defense and man-down defense. Prior to his time at VWU, he was an assistant coach of the men's lacrosse team at Elizabethtown College, where he helped lead the Blue Jays to Landmark Conference championships in 2018 and 2019. He was also a member of the coaching staff that was named Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year in 2018.
Â
Hawley played collegiately at Lynchburg College from 2012 to 2016. In 2015, he was named First Team All-Conference in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and First Team All-State to go along with ODAC All-Tournament Team honors. The Raleigh, North Carolina, native also helped the Hornets to ODAC championships in 2014 and 2015.
Â
Following his collegiate career, Hawley played in the Men's State League for the Subiaco Lacrosse Club, where he was a recipient of the John Keen Trophy and named Defensive MVP in 2017. In July of 2017, he also participated in the Maverick Challenge, a tournament between the Australian and Japanese national teams. The former goalie also presented coaching techniques for goalies to middle school, high school and collegiate club coaches as an instructor at the US Lacrosse Coaching Clinic in 2017 and 2019.
Â
Kearney spent the last three years at Lewis University, serving as a defensive assistant from 2018 to 2021 before taking over as defensive coordinator. He also was a goalie coach and recruiting coordinator during his time with the Flyers, turning 64% of campus visits and offers into committed players.
Â
Prior to Lewis, Kearney was co-captain of the club lacrosse team at Holy Cross College and was eventually named coach in 2015. In that role, the Glen Ellyn, Illinois, native was responsible for funding, scheduling, planning practices and game leadership.
Â
The former goalie also served as director of 1223 Lacrosse Club from 2019 to 2020, where he organized club lacrosse activities for high school lacrosse players and helped them with the college recruitment process. Kearney then served as a coach for True Lacrosse, implementing strategies to improve goalie training.
