Hattie Bray on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Bray and the Golden Eagles are off to a 4-0 start in conference play
NEW YORK - Marquette University middle blocker Hattie Bray was named the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for her play in sweeps of UConn and Providence.Â
Bray hit .545 with 3.33 kills and 0.83 blocks per set in a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles. She posted nine kills on .438 hitting and two blocks in Friday's win over UConn. Against Providence on Saturday, Bray set a new career best with 11 kills on .647 hitting (11-0-17) with three blocks and a pair of digs.
The weekly honor is the first of her Marquette career.
Bray and the No. 18 Golden Eagles play their first matches away from the Al McGuire Center in over a month this weekend at St. John's and Seton Hall.Â

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Jenna Walsh, Seton Hall, So., OH
Walsh led the BIG EAST in kills (5.11) and points (5.56) in a 1-1 road swing for the Pirates. She posted 20-plus kills and points in both matches last week, beginning with 24 kills and 26.0 points in Friday's five-set thriller against Georgetown. She followed that with 22 kills and 24.0 points at Villanova on Saturday, while adding nine digs and a service ace in each contest. Walsh was the only BIG EAST player to eclipse the 20-point, 20-kill mark in both appearances last week. Her kills and points totals in each match were the highest two marks in the conference last week, while her kills totals are the two highest tallies in league play this season.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Rachel Krasowski, DePaul, Jr., L
Krasowski sparked the Blue Demons to back-to-back wins last week, averaging 5.38 digs per set in wins over Providence and UConn. The junior had the two highest digs totals in four-set matches last week, beginning with 28 against the Friars on Friday and followed by 15 against the Huskies on Saturday. Her digs average listed second among BIG EAST players last week. Krasowski passed the 1,000 career digs mark on Friday. She added eight assists against the Friars and four against the Huskies. DePaul's opponents hit .152 last week for the third-best mark in the BIG EAST.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Ava Martin, Creighton, Fr., OH
Martin was stellar in a 2-0 week for the 21st-ranked Bluejays. In 3-0 sweeps of Xavier and Butler, Martin led the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.581), while ranking second in kills (4.67) and points (4.83) per set. She posted two of the top-four hitting percentages of the week – including her weekly league-high .684 clip against Xavier on Wednesday. Her back-to-back 14-kill outings were the most in a three-set match last week, while her 15.0 points against Butler and 14.0 against Xavier were the two highest points tallies in a three-set match last week. Martin is the first Creighton freshman with four straight matches of double-digit kills to open conference play. She currently leads the BIG EAST in kills (4.45) and points (4.59) over her first four BIG EAST matches.
