Direct impact on MU's seven NCAA women's programs
Building on its storied tradition of women's athletic excellence, the Marquette Athletics Department continues to honor its current female student-athletes and alumni and drive scholarship funds, while paying it forward for future generations.
To bolster female student-athletes through the new Elevating Excellence in Women's Athletics initiative, Marquette Athletics will introduce a $1 donation included in men's basketball mini-plan and single-game ticket sales for the 2022-23 season. This will directly impact current and future Golden Eagles by providing resources to Marquette's seven NCAA women's programs helping to elevate the success of student female athletes through leadership development, excellence on the field, in the classroom and within the community.
This summer, Marquette announced that an alumni gift established the first full-tuition endowed scholarship for female student-athletes. To date in the university's Time to Rise philanthropic campaign, Marquette has raised $3.6 million toward women's sport excellence funds and endowed scholarships for women's sports.
What our leaders are saying:
"Our women's athletics programs are a true beacon for the university, and our female student-athletes and coaches become incredible role models for young women," said Bill Scholl, vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics.
"Marquette has a long history of excellence in women's athletics, and this initiative will make a meaningful impact on our prestigious programs," President Michael R. Lovell said. "Come to any event for our women's teams, and you'll see the love our fans, alumni and students have for these great student-athletes and leaders."
