QUEENS, New York – Carsen Murray hit .625 with 11 kills and five blocks to lead the No. 18 Marquette University women's volleyball team to a sweep of St. John's on Friday evening at Carnesecca Arena.
The Golden Eagles (14-1, 5-0 BIG EAST) claimed their third-straight sweep, 25-17, 25-23, 26-24, while hitting .217. In addition to Murray's match-high hitting percentage, outside hitters Aubrey Hamilton and Jenna Reitsma tallied 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Reitsma added 13 digs for her third double-double of the year, along with a pair of service aces.
"I don't think we played our best offensive match but credit St. John's block for some of that," MU head coach Ryan Theis said. "I was impressed we were able to get four blocks and 18 kills in the third to finish off the night. St. John's made us earn it."
Rachele Rastelli posted 13 kills to lead the Red Storm (12-6, 3-2 BIG EAST) along with four blocks. Giorgia Walther added 11 kills for SJU.

NOTABLE:
- The win is MU's 12th in a row and first match outside the state of Wisconsin since Aug. 27.
- Marquette picked up its third consecutive sweep and has only dropped one set in BIG EAST play. That lost set came against Butler on Sept. 24.
- The Golden Eagles hold a 23-7 all-time record against SJU and have won 11 of the last 12 meetings, save for a four-set loss to the Red Storm in the BIG EAST Championship match at the Al McGuire Center in 2019. Marquette defeated St. John's in the most recent match, in five sets, last November in Queens.
- The Golden Eagles are 5-0 in BIG EAST play for the third time in the last four seasons. MU's best start to a conference campaign during the tenure of Theis was 7-0 in 2017. MU's best BIG EAST start overall was 8-0 in 2012.
- Yadhira Anchante had her team-leading eighth double-double of the year with 39 assists and 10 digs.
- Middle Hattie Bray, who was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, tied a career best with six blocks, including four solos.
- MU led 24-22 in the third set, but had to fend of SJU as the Red Storm knotted the frame at 24 on an attack error from Reitsma.
- The loss was SJU's first at home this season.
