Golden Eagles beginning 106th season
The Marquette University men's basketball team (0-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) opens its 2022-23 campaign on Monday, Nov. 7 when the squad hosts Radford (0-0, 0-0 Big South) at 7:30 p.m. CT in Fiserv Forum.  FS1 will feature the national television broadcast, with Jeff Levering (play-by-play) and Brian Butch (analyst) calling the action.  Following Monday's game, the Golden Eagles continue their season-opening homestand on Thursday, Nov. 10 against Central Michigan.  The matchup against CMU will be played on campus at the Al McGuire Center and the 3,500-capacity arena will feature a crowd exclusively made up of Marquette students.
FS1 Featuring League-Wide Coverage Monday

Eight BIG EAST teams open the 2022-23 campaign at home Monday night and FS1 will feature complete coverage with its Opening Night Tip-Off program.

Casey Jacobsen and Bill Raftery will anchor coverage from the studio and provide live coverage of each of the eight outings at various times throughout the evening. Â Action begins at 5:30 p.m. CT when Butler takes on New Orleans at Hinkle Fieldhouse.Â

Marquette Hoping To Continue Opening Success

Marquette has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success on opening night and hopes to continue that trend in 2022-23 when the team faces Radford in the first game of the year in the program's 106th season of competition.

The Golden Eagles are 89-16 (.848) all-time in campaign lidlifters and have claimed 29 of their last 31 overall. Â Marquette had an impressive streak of 29 years in which it started 1-0, dating from 1960-61 to 1988-89.Â

MU Looking To Exceed Expectations

Marquette was selected to finish ninth in the league's preseason coaches' poll, the second-straight campaign the Golden Eagles have been slotted in that position.

Last year, MU exceeded the expectations by its BIG EAST peers and earned a share of fifth place (11-8) in the conference standings. Â The team finished 19-13 overall and earned a No. 9 seed in the NCAA tournament, falling to eventual national runner-up North Carolina.
Kolek Handed Out Assists Like Candy At ParadeÂ

In 2022-23, Marquette's Tyler Kolek topped the league in assists-per-game and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4).

Kolek dished out a league-best 5.9 assists-per-game, which ranked eighth nationally. Â The George Mason transfer distributed a career-best 11 helpers in the win over Georgetown (2/16/22) and his 188 helpers last season was the seventh-best single-season mark in program history.

The Cumberland, R.I., native dished out five-or-more assists in 24 of his 32 outings.
