Keys Completes Day One of NCAA Indoor Championships

Day two continues tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CT
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA – Marquette University senior Joe Keys finishes day one of the heptathlon at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships in 13th place. The super senior finished day one with 3096 points, the fourth-best day one score of his career.
Keys began the day running a 7.12 in the 60-meters, just shy of his personal-best 7.10. Keys' time put him in 13th place after the first event. In the long jump, the Downers Grove, Illinois, native put up his best mark of the day, 7.09 meters/23 feet, 3.25 inches, in his final jump.
In the shot put, he opened with a mark of 11.11 meters/36 feet, 5.5 inches on his first attempt. Keys was able to improve upon that and post a mark of 12.63 meters/41 feet, 5.25 inches on his final throw.
In the final event of the day, the high jump, Keys was able to clear a height of 1.97 meters/6 feet, 5.5 inches. This mark tied his second-best career jump.
Keys will look to gain ground on the field on day two in the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1000-meters. Day two will begin tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CT with the 60-meter hurdles. Live Coverage will begin at 10:30 a.m. on ESPN3. Live results can also be found here.
