BIG EAST Release
NEW YORK – After tying the conference single-game record with eight goals on Saturday at St. John's, Marquette University attackman Bobby O'Grady was named the BIG EAST Attack Player and Freshman of the Week for men's lacrosse, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
O'Grady scored a career-high eight goals, the most ever for a BIG EAST freshman, as MU defeated the Red Storm, 23-13. His goal total is the highest single-game mark in MU history and his point total of eight ties the MU record set by Tyler Melnyk in 2014. The offensive explosion in Queens also ties the Golden Eagles for the most goals ever in a BIG EAST game (23).
The native of Milton, Massachusetts leads MU with 34 goals and 38 points this season and is second in the BIG EAST in goals per game with 3.40 per contest.
It is the fourth time O'Grady has been honored as the league's freshman of the week this season.
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Central time at Valley Fields against No. 10 Notre Dame. They then travel to Washington, D.C. this weekend for a Saturday clash with No. 2 Georgetown.
