MU Competes in the Warhawk Invite on Apr.22-23
TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA – The Marquette University men's and women's track and field team concluded their week of competition Friday evening. MU competed in four meets over the course of three days. The Golden Eagles traveled to California to compete in the MT. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invite and Pacific Coast Intercollegiate. The remainder of the team represented Marquette at the Warrior Invite at Wisconsin Lutheran.
"We had a bunch of solid performances at Long Beach and Azusa," said head coach Bert Rogers. "We had a lot of good performances and a number of things to build on."
At the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, freshman Daylee Braden rolled to a third place finish in the 400 meters setting a PR of 56.03, No. 6 all-time in MU history. Arianna Mansavage finished right behind her in fourth place with a time of 56.29.
Braden would also go on to run a personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 25.49.
Zachariah Murray went on to set lifetime bests in the 200 and 400 meters as well. Murray ran a PR of 22.33 in the 200 meters and a personal best of 48.69 in the 400 meters at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate.
Sophomore Mitchell Van Vooren had a record-setting week in the 400-meter hurdles setting a personal best at Long Beach with a time of 54.34. That time didn't last long as Van Vooren went on to break his personal record again the following day at Azusa Pacific with a time of 53.97. His time is No. 10 all-time at Marquette in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the 5000 meters at Azusa Pacific, Jordan Janusiak and David Zeller both finished in personal best times. Janusiak finished in 14:44.19 and Zeller ran a time of 14:48.97.
Junior Kendall Pfrimmer concluded the west coast trip on a high note with a top-10 performance at the MT. SAC Relays. Pfrimmer rolled to a 35-second lifetime best in the 5000-meters with a time of 16:34.20. Her time puts her at No. 3 all-time in MU history.
"Overall, it was a successful trip. I'm super proud of Kendall. She crushed it in the 5K and held her own against a very talented field."
Back in Wisconsin at the Warrior Invite, Freshman Caden George took first place in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 58.90.
Grace Mager found herself on top of the podium as well by winning the Javelin with a throw of 32.40 meters/106 feet, 3 inches. Mager has taken top-3 in the javelin in all three meets this season.
In her first outdoor action of the season, Katie Dingle received runner-up honors in the high jump clearing a mark of 1.60 meters/5 feet, 3 inches.

The Golden Eagles return home next weekend to compete in the Warhawk Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater. Competition will begin Friday, Apr. 22 and conclude on Saturday, Apr. 23.
