Mirkes Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Lindsey Mirkes named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week
NEW YORK - Marquette University graduate student Lindsey Mirkes is the BIG EAST Conference Field Athlete of the week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. It's her first time receiving the honor this season.
The De Pere native recorded a season-best in the high jump clearing a height of 1.76 meters/5 feet, 9.25 inches to take seventh overall at the Drake Relays. Her mark ranks fourth-best in the BIG EAST. Her performance ranks her 60th nationally and 30th regionally in the high jump.
BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Barry Keane, Butler, Redshirt-Senior
Keane set the Butler outdoor record in the 5,000 meters on Friday night at the Payton Jordan Invitational, clocking in at 13:26.29 to finish third in the elite field. The time broke the old school record by more than four seconds (13:30.55 by Euan Makepeace in 2021) and currently ranks 11th in the NCAA this outdoor season.

Malik Cunningham, Villanova, Senior
Cunningham repeats as the BIG EAST's top men's field athlete after recording the 13th-best triple jump mark nationally this spring at the Penn Relays. Cunningham recorded a leap of 16.10 meters to finish second overall.
BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Laura Mooney, Providence, Sophomore
Mooney had a record-breaking day as she placed second in the 10,000 meters at the Penn Relays. Her personal-best performance of 33:23.95 broke the Irish U23 National record and placed her sixth all-time in Providence program history. She currently ranks second in the BIG EAST and 16th nationally.
