Five teams earn perfect APR scores of 1,000 in 2020-21
MILWAUKEE ā Marquette University student-athletes are demonstrating success in the classroom and continue to perform at a high level, a trend that is documented in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) report, which was released by the NCAA recently.
Each academic year, every Division I sports team across the country calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for remaining eligible and 1 point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
11 of Marquette's 14 Division I programs posted a four-year average equal to or better than the national average for their respective sports.
Men's & women's cross country, women's track & field, men's golf and men's tennis all posted perfect APR scores of 1,000. This is the men's tennis team's sixth year in a row with a perfect score while it's the fifth consecutive year for the women's cross country team. The men's cross country team recorded a perfect score for the third year in a row and this makes back-to-back years with perfect scores for the women's track & field team. Ā
Both the men's and women's basketball teams posted their best APR scores ever. MU's men's lacrosse team has recorded its highest scores in program history the last two years and the men's soccer team's score is the third-highest in program history.
The Academic Performance Program has established an essential framework for academic excellence. The program provides measurable goals to ensure schools are fulfilling their commitment of equipping student-athletes with the tools and resources necessary to achieve academic success.
