Anchante is BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

The Peruvian had her first triple-double on Saturday against Butler
NEW YORK - Marquette University setter Yadhira Anchante was named the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week for women's volleyball after helping the Golden Eagles to wins over DePaul and Butler.
For the week, she averaged 11.57 assists and 3.14 digs per set, while helping MU hit a combined .360. Anchante also averaged 1.86 kills herself and hit .542.
She began the week with 35 assists, nine digs and a service ace in a sweep of DePaul on Wednesday and recorded her first career triple-double in NCAA play with 10 kills, 46 assists and 13 digs against Butler on Saturday night.
The native of Lima, Peru ranks third in the BIG EAST in assists (10.27 per set) and is sixth in service aces with 17 on the year (0.38/set). As a team, the Golden Eagles are hitting a league-high .286 with Anchante at the helm, and lead the BIG EAST in kills with 14.11 per frame.
Anchante, who was featured earlier this season on GoMarquette.com, and the No. 19 Golden Eagles conclude their season-long 10-match homestand at the Al McGuire Center this weekend against UConn on Friday and Providence on Saturday.Â

In a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles, Anchante led the BIG EAST in hitting at .542 and listed third in assists with 11.57 per set. She had two of the top assist performances of the week, including 35 in a three-set win over DePaul on Wednesday, followed by 46 in a four-set victory over Butler. Against the Bulldogs, Anchante notched her first career triple-double, totaling 10 kills, 46 assists and 13 digs. Sparked by Anchante, Marquette led the BIG EAST in hitting last week with a .360 clip, while also tallying a league-best 15.00 assists and 16.14 kills per set.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Rachele Rastelli, St. John's, Grad., RS
In a 2-0 week for the Red Storm, Rastelli finished in the top five in the BIG EAST in a trio of statistical categories, including No. 1 in points (4.75), No. three in kills (3.88) and No. 5 in blocks (1.25). She posted the third-most blocks in a match last week with six in Saturday's win over UConn, while her 26.0 points and 22 kills against the Huskies were single-match highs in the league last week. Rastelli added double-digit digs (11) on Saturday night as well.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Ava Martin, Creighton, Fr., OH
In her first week of BIG EAST play, Martin led the league in kills (4.20), while listing sixth in both hitting (.441) and points (4.30). She was one of just two BIG EAST student-athletes to average at least 4.00 kills per set last week, tallying 10 against Georgetown on Friday and 11 against Villanova on Sunday as Creighton swept both opponents.
