Foti named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Foti hit .418 and led MU in kills in her hometown of Madison
NEW YORK - After hitting .418 with 26 kills in a 1-1 week, Marquette University sophomore Ella Foti was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in her career on Monday.
Foti equaled then bettered her career high with 12 and 14 kills against No. 6 Wisconsin and High Point, respectively. The Madison native hit a combined .418 in her hometown while averaging 3.25 kills, 1.75 digs and 0.63 blocks per frame.
She had 12 kills, eight digs and a pair of blocks while hitting .400 against the Badgers on Friday night and made her first career start on Sunday against High Point. Foti hit .433 against the Panthers with 14 kills six digs and three blocks in a 3-1 win.
Foti and the No. 24 Golden Eagles host their home opener on Tuesday evening against Loyola Chicago at the Al McGuire Center.

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Rose Crist, Villanova, So., OH
In a 2-1 weekend for the Wildcats, Crist led the BIG EAST in both kills and points. The sophomore tallied double-digit kills in all three matches at home this weekend, beginning with 17 in a sweep of Lafayette on Friday, followed again by 17 in a five-set win over New Hampshire, before going for a BIG EAST-weekly high 23 in Sunday's five-set setback to Fairfield. Crist's 17 kills against the Leopards were most by a BIG EAST student-athlete in a three-set match last week, as were her 17 points in that contest. Her 23 points against the Stags were the second-most in the BIG EAST in a five-set match over the weekend. Crist also finished with a .292 hitting percentage to finish among the BIG EAST weekly leaders.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Mackenzie Taylor, Providence, Grad., DS
In a 2-1 weekend for the Friars, Taylor led the BIG EAST in digs. The graduate student started off the weekend in impressive fashion, tallying the most digs in a match in the BIG EAST this season with 32 in a four-set win over Texas A&M Commerce. She followed that with 14 in a five-set win over North Texas, before ending the weekend with 21 in a 3-2 setback at UT Arlington. The 21 digs were the second-most in a five-set match in the BIG EAST last week. Taylor finished with a 4.79 digs per set average and 67 total on the weekend. She also contributed seven assists and a service ace.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Asli Subasili, Seton Hall, Fr., MB
Subasili was impressive in a 3-1 week for the Pirates, most notably tallying nine service aces in a three-match stretch. The freshman middle blocker recorded three aces in Friday's sweep of George Mason, before adding two more in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Akron. She finished the weekend with four service aces in a sweep of Iona to average 0.64 per set. Additionally, Subasili added six kills and 12 blocks, highlighted by a five-block outing against the Patriots. Her 12 blocks were second-most on the Pirates.

Taylor Pannell, Connecticut, Jr., MB – finished second in the BIG EAST blocks (1.10 per set) and fifth in hitting percentage (.311) over a three-match stretch for the Huskies; 12 kills and six blocks at Army on Saturday
Keeley Davis, Creighton, Sr., OH – Bluejay Invitational All-Tournament Team member after averaging 3.09 kills and 3.92 points per set in a 2-1 weekend; 16 kills, three service aces, eight digs, three blocks in win over no. 25 USC – 20.5 points against the Trojans were a BIG EAST four-set high last week
