The Golden Eagles Have Nine Meets Before BIG EAST
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University's men's and women's track and field teams are set for the 2023-24 indoor season. The Golden Eagles will be sending representatives to 10 meets.
"I'm excited for the upcoming season," said Bert Rogers, Director of Track and Field and Cross Country. "We have a nice mix of meets this year that will prepare us well for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships."
MU will kick off the season on Friday, Dec. 1 at Notre Dame for the Blue & Gold Invitational. This will be the first of two meets this season in South Bend, Ind., with the Golden Eagles returning on Feb. 2-3 for the Meyo Invitational.
The Golden Eagles will travel to Chicago on Dec. 8 for the DePaul Holiday Invitational for the final meet before the new year. DePaul will be the host site again this season for the 2023-24 BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Feb. 23-24.
After the new year, Marquette will begin a stretch of six straight weekends of competition. The season will resume at Milwaukee on Jan. 20 for the John Tierney Invitational. The Golden Eagles will then head to Allendale, Mich. the following weekend for the Bill Clinger Classic (Jan. 26) hosted by Grand Valley State.
The combined-event athletes will head to Mankato, Minn. for the Mankato State Multi (Jan. 26-27) to compete in the heptathlon and pentathlon.
MU will split up the weekend of Feb. 9-10 sending representatives to the Dick Hendricks Invitational at Ripon (Feb. 10) and the GVSU Big Meet (Feb. 9). Most of the team will be heading to Ripon while the distance runners make the trip across the lake for the Big Meet.
The final meet of the regular season will be at Milwaukee on Feb. 17.
This year's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held in Boston, Mass., at The Track at New Balance March 8-9.
