Four Golden Eagles hit double-figure scoring in win
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's basketball team dominated Illinois Springfield on Monday, 92-37, in front of 3,750 fans at the Al McGuire Center on Milwaukee Public Schools Kids Day.
The Golden Eagles (1-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) were led by Skylar Forbes, who had a career-high 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting and eight rebounds.
Lee Volker scored in double-digits for the third straight game, adding 14 points, five rebounds and three assists. Jaidynn Mason, in her first career start at MU, had 10 points, three rebounds and two steals on 5-of-5 shooting. Kennedi Perkins had 10 points and a career-high five rebounds.
Marquette started the game on a 21-2 run and ended the game with 23 unanswered points. MU outrebounded ISU 58-21 and had 68 points in the paint compared to ISU's 16. The Golden Eagles had 24 offensive boards that led to 32 second chance points.
Illinois Springfield (0-3, 0-0 GLVC) was led by Emari Dobby, who had 12 points.
