Grant Is a goalie from Baldwin, Maryland
Jamie Grant recently sat down to with GoMarquette.com to reminisce on his four years at Marquette. The goalie from Baldwin, Maryland is a two-time BIG EAST Academic Team honoree.
1. What is your most memorable experience with the team?
Grant: The trip to Austin Texas this year, being able to spend time with one another before the season in an awesome city was great.
2. What's the best advice you could offer future Marquette lacrosse players?
Grant: Dive into the relationships and break out of your shell if your are normally an introvert. Marquette Lacrosse is special because of the relationships we have here, and genuine good guys that are on this team. Get to know each other and understand that everyone has a voice even if you are a freshman.
3. Most memorable game? Why?
Grant: Beating Penn State last year. Biggest win for the program in a while in front of a huge crowd on the island. Getting back into that gym locker room and dancing around is something I'll never forget.
4. What has motivated you?
Grant: My teammates, playing for each other is always the thing that gets me out of bed in the morning and wants me to be my best.
5. How do you think you've changed as a player or person over your career at Marquette?
Grant: I have become much more outgoing and created more meaningful relationships as I have gotten older. I feel as close as I ever have with a team especially this year.
6. What is your favorite thing about the city of Milwaukee? Why?
Grant: The food, I've tried so many new things here...to highlight brats and cheese curds are the best.
7. What have you learned that you will take with you as you move on from MU?
Grant: I will take many things with me that I have learned by being on the Marquette Lacrosse team. Most importantly I understand what it takes to be apart of a team and the competitiveness that is present everyday at practice will translate over to business in the work place and always wanting to win.
8. Who is a teammate that has inspired you? Why?
Grant: A teammate that has inspired me is Lucas Lawas, he has remained so consistent all year and comes into the locker room with a smile on his face every single day no matter what his situation is on the field. We have had many great conversations over the years and he is a great guy to have in the same position group as myself.
