Jake Stegman talks about his time at Marquette. The graduate student was a second-team All BIG EAST selection in 2023 and holds the MU record for assists with 80.
1. What is your most memorable experience with the team?
Stegman: Our trip to Naples, Florida last year.
2. What's the best advice you could offer future Marquette lacrosse players?
Stegman: Make lacrosse and the team the most important thing in your life. If everything else comes second and you are obsessed with the process you will find success.
3. Most memorable game? Why?
Stegman: Our final game last year in 2023. It was the last time playing with everyone from my recruiting class, the people who I started my career with.
4. What has motivated you?
Stegman: Becoming the best student, teammate, and person possible.
5. How do you think you've changed as a player or person over your career at Marquette?
Stegman: I've learned a lot about myself and how to be successful in any situation.
6. What is your favorite thing about the city of Milwaukee? Why?
Stegman: The lakefront. It reminds me of how beautiful Chicago's lakefront is.
7. What have you learned that you will take with you as you move on from MU?
Stegman: Don't ever try and be someone else. Apply advice from others and the techniques they use to be successful, but everyone's formula for success looks different.
8. Who is a teammate that has inspired you? Why?
Stegman: Luke Williams. He came to Marquette looking for an opportunity without knowing what it would look like. Started playing an entirely new position and is now one of the best in the country.
